Important Update on UCLA/Blue Shield Contract
Effective January 1, 2012 the following UCLA provider groups and medical centers are no longer in the Blue Shield network:
• UCLA Medical Group (which includes Santa Monica
Bay Physicians (SMBP)),
• Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, and
• Santa Monica UCLA Medical Center.
Blue Shield and UCLA were unable to agree on terms for a new contract.
Therefore, any claims incurred on or after January 1, 2012 will be paid by MPI as “out-of-network” which requires
Participants to pay a significantly larger portion of the incurred medical expenses.
For Participants with certain limited health conditions who began receiving treatment from UCLA prior to January 1, 2012,
MPI has established Continuity of Care (CoC) guidelines for continued treatment of the same condition. The patient’s condition must
meet the requirements included in the CoC guidelines established by the MPI Board of Directors. Click here for a copy of the CoC Guidelines

2011 Pension & Individual Account Plan Summary Plan Description

PHARMACY UPDATE
Effective April 30, 2011, the Motion Picture Television Fund (MPTF) is no longer offering pharmacy services at their Toluca Lake Health Center or the Bob Hope Health Center. Click here to learn more about these changes.

RETIREE UPDATE
Effective January 1, 2011, MPI has changed the way that Retiree health claims are paid when the Retiree has other primary insurance coverage like Medicare. Retiree claims that were paid between January 1 and June 14, 2011 are currently being recalculated. Retirees with recalculated claims that result in a refund will receive their checks by the end of September.
